Pastor Jim Rose Bio
A native of Florida, Jim received his degree in Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1958. Upon graduation Jim received his commission from the US Army as a Second Lieutenant. The US Army then sent him to El Paso, Texas for officers basic training and then to Connecticut to serve in the Air Defense program. It was here that Jim started his first church with another Lieutenant in Portland, Connecticut. In 1963 Jim entered Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) to pursue a Master of Theology Degree in New Testament Literature and graduated in 1967. While attending DTS Jim was asked to pastor, Arlington Bible Church, which became his second pastoral position, occurring before his graduation at DTS.
Since then, Pastor Rose has held pastorates in Iowa, Florida, Dallas, Texas, Connecticut, Calvary Baptist Church, New York City, Grace Covenant Church in Austin, Texas, Packsaddle Fellowship in Kingsland, Texas and finally at Grace Gathering Church in Llano, Texas. During this time frame, seven of these churches were new startups and 5 new church plants were created and sent out to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Rose has become well known for his dramatic sermons and narrative writings. He has portrayed numerous characters from both the Old and New Testaments using monologues to effectively use these characters as an evangelistic approach to the Scriptures. During the years prior to Packsaddle Fellowship and before helping to startup Grace Gathering Church in 2015, he performed Interim Pastorates serving at Grace Bible Church in Georgetown, Texas, First Evangelical Free Church in St. Louis, Mo., Grace Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Jim also served on the Board of Dallas Theological Seminary from 1994 until 2011 where he was the Chair of Regents and was involved with the Department of Pastoral Ministry. Pastor Rose also enjoys speaking in Bible and Family Life Conferences at Pine Cove and Camp of the Woods in up New York state as well as pastoral seminars. Because of his ongoing interest in the pastorate, he enjoys the opportunity to consult with church staffs and has recently assisted Calvary Baptist Church in New York City with their search for a new pastor.
For over twenty years Pastor Rose has continued to teach leadership classes. These are by invitation only to men he feels are qualified to help further Jesus’ Great Commission of going out and creating disciples. In these classes the students go through the Old and New Testaments receiving homework assignments as though they were in seminary school. He calls it his unaccredited school and it takes approximately two and a half years to complete. Pastor Rose also has an audio and video blog where he is currently teaching on “The Attributes of God” and the “The Book of The Revelation”. This blog is located at https://pastorjimrose.com
